Strains & Sprains Pain Relief Houston

Heal Faster, Move Freely — Regain Strength and Confidence After Injury

A sudden twist, awkward step, or overexerted movement — and suddenly, you feel it. The sharp pain. The swelling. The stiffness that makes every step or motion a reminder that something isn’t right. Strains and sprains can happen in an instant, but their effects can linger for weeks or months if not properly treatd.

At Myopress, we know how frustrating it is when pain limits your mobility and disrupts your routine. Whether you rolled an ankle, strained your back, or pulled a muscle, you’re not just dealing with discomfort — you’re dealing with a loss of strength, stability, and confidence in your body.

The Myopress® Method was designed to change that. It’s a five-phase system that not only helps you recover from pain but also restores the stability and mobility that prevent future injuries. For more than 20 years, Ephraim Colwell, LMT, NMT, CES, has helped clients across Houston, Cypress, and Bellaire recover from soft tissue injuries and return to full, pain-free movement.

Understanding Strains and Sprains

Though the terms are often used together, strains and sprains affect different tissues:

  • Strains involve overstretched or torn muscles or tendons (the tissues that connect muscles to bone).

  • Sprains involve stretched or torn ligaments (the tissues that connect bones to each other at joints).

Both injuries can cause swelling, bruising, pain, and instability — but the real challenge is what happens afterward. Once injured, the surrounding muscles often tighten or weaken to protect the area, creating imbalances that increase the risk of re-injury.

Even after the pain fades, your body may continue to move incorrectly, compensating for the injured tissue. That’s why so many people experience recurring sprains or strains in the same spot — the root dysfunction was never fully corrected.

At Myopress, we address both the injury and its long-term effects, so you don’t just heal — you recover completely.

How the Myopress® Method Promotes Real Recovery

Our five-phase system works by calming pain, restoring function, and rebuilding strength — step by step.

Phase 01: Reset
We begin by reducing pain and inflammation through Neuromuscular Therapy, helping calm overactive muscles and improve circulation in the injured area.

Phase 02: Lengthen
Next, we use Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.) and Assisted Stretching to restore flexibility and release protective tension in surrounding tissues.

Phase 03: Stabilize
As healing progresses, we strengthen the stabilizer muscles around the affected joint to improve control and balance — reducing the chance of re-injury.

Phase 04: Strengthen
We introduce Corrective Exercises that rebuild strength, endurance, and coordination across the entire kinetic chain. This restores symmetry and prepares the body for real-life movement.

Phase 05: Move
Finally, we integrate movement retraining to ensure your body moves fluidly and efficiently — so you can walk, run, lift, or train without hesitation.

This complete process bridges the gap between short-term healing and long-term resilience.

When to Seek Strain or Sprain Treatment

You may benefit from Myopress therapy if you:

  • Experience pain, swelling, or tenderness around a joint or muscle

  • Feel stiffness or weakness long after the initial injury

  • Notice recurring sprains or strains in the same area

  • Have limited mobility or balance following recovery

  • Experience pain during exercise, walking, or lifting

Our goal is not just to eliminate pain, but to restore your confidence in movement.

Why Traditional Recovery Isn’t Enough

Rest, ice, and compression can help manage symptoms — but they don’t correct the muscular or neurological imbalances that caused or followed the injury.

When certain muscles remain weak or tight, your body develops compensations that alter how you move. Over time, this can lead to chronic pain, instability, or even new injuries.

The Myopress® Method restores your body’s natural balance, retraining your muscles and joints to work together the way they were meant to — stable, strong, and pain-free.

FAQs

Everything You Need to Know

What’s the difference between a strain and a sprain?

A strain affects muscles or tendons, while a sprain involves ligaments. Both benefit from Myopress therapy to restore balance and stability.

How soon after injury can I start treatment?

We can begin as soon as acute inflammation decreases, usually within a few days to a week. Early intervention helps prevent long-term compensation.

Will this help if I’ve had multiple sprains in the same area?

Yes. Recurring sprains often happen because of instability or muscle imbalance — both of which we correct with our five-phase system.

Do you work with athletes or post-PT patients?

Absolutely. Many athletes and clients come to Myopress after physical therapy to rebuild performance and prevent reinjury.

Can this replace surgery or medication?

While we don’t replace medical care, many clients find lasting relief through Myopress without the need for invasive procedures or ongoing medication.
